Job Summary

Oversees various University benefit programs for faculty, staff, retirees, and students and serves as a team leader for other benefit staff. Leads benefits-related projects, performs benefits-related administrative duties, and mitigates issues with vendors to maintain effective relationships.


Essential Functions 
  • Oversees several University benefit programs including the retirement savings plans, long term care, retiree benefit administration, absence management including FMFL, FMLA, short-term disability programs and lifer insurance programs.
  • Serves as a team leader to other benefit staff members by overseeing the workflow process, reviewing employee workload, and performing annual performance appraisals.
  • Leads benefits-related projects including developing new plan designs and options, creating communication materials, and conducting various presentations for new hire orientation or other educational initiatives.
  • Conducts administrative tasks including, but not limited to, billing issues, interpreting policy, analyzing potential exceptions to policy, and updating websites or other benefits-related literature.
  • Maintains accuracy of membership data, competitive data surveys, and all related invoicing.
  • Coordinates with account managers to develop and maintain effective relationships with vendors; remediates issues with vendors. 

Physical Effort 

Little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.
