Description
OVERVIEW:
The Benefits - Billing and Reconciliation Specialist performs human resources-related duties for daily activities and provide excellent customer service to employees and collaboration with carriers and vendors as it relates to the billing and reconciliation process. This position is accountable for ensuring continuity and successful delivery of functional services to users throughout the organization in accordance with the mission, core values, and purposes of the university.
This position is on-site, located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Reconciles invoices from service providers against enrollments and payroll deductions.
• Verifies and processes necessary payroll adjustments for all benefits.
• Reviews and analyzes variance reports and other information concerning billing, payments, credits, and deductions for all benefits, such as life, health, vision, and dental insurance, medical, retirement, spending accounts, 401K and retirements and/or other benefits programs.
• Determines cause of discrepancies; research appropriate records or documents as needed to verify variances and identify any changes in enrollment or status.
• Submits corrective actions based on findings to payroll, finance department and/or carriers as needed.
• Notifies employees, carriers, Finance, and Payroll or others, as needed, concerning actions required to correct discrepancies,
• Can interpretate rules or policies concerning benefits enrollments, changes in status and other transactions such as Tier rate changes.
• Critical thinking skills to diagnose problems, identify and drive appropriate solutions.
• Excellent resolution focused mind-set.
• Must possess excellent communication and ensure collaborative relationships with employees, carriers, and vendors.
• Strong decision-making and ability to exercise excellent judgment that balances tradeoff decisions and the needs of employees, as well as the company.
• Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position.
• Escalates employee concerns and appeals to Director of Benefits
• Serve as back up to Benefits Specialist as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and TRAINING:
• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or administration preferred; and
• Minimum of two years of benefits experience preferred.
• Experience in payroll or finance a plus
