The Bariatric Nutrition Coordinator/Registered Dietitian will be responsible for planning and delivering nutrition care to patients according to the physicians’ diagnoses.  The Bariatric Nutritional Coordinator also will perform pre and postoperative assessments to include a review of weight, medical, psychological, and diet histories.  Performs as a member of the multidisciplinary care team.

In addition, the Bariatric Nutrition Coordinator/RD will be responsible for:

  • Will provide individual and group nutritional education classes including but not limited to pre-operative and postoperative diet progression and vitamin supplementation. 
  • Provide monthly bariatric recipes. 
  • Participate in monthly support groups and team meetings. 
  • Provides education in-services to allied health providers. 
  • Oversees program website and social media blog for bariatric patient nutritional guidelines. 
  • Provides research-based bariatric nutrition recommendations to the bariatric team. 
  • Provides initiative on individual patient weight loss management pre and postoperative.
  • Utilizes independent clinical judgment under the general supervision of the Nutritional Services Director and Bariatric Program Manager.

  • Current registered Dietitian (required)
  • Master’s Degree (preferred)
  • Weight Management Certification (required) or obtain within 90 days of employment (required)
  • American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery membership or obtain within 90 days of employment (required)
  • BLS within 90 days of employment (required)
  • Advanced Computer Knowledge including social media posting (required)
  • Prior experience in weight management as RD in a healthcare setting (preferred)
