Who We Are

Sponsored Research Services (SRS) is a consortium of research administrators supporting Texas A&M University System members. We provide efficient and superior research administration services to members of The Texas A&M University System in Brazos County, Galveston and Qatar. SRS teams work with stakeholders to provide expertise and assistance with proposal submissions, in negotiation of external contracts, and in project administration throughout the life of the award. What We Want


SRS is seeking an Award Set Up Administrator I who will coordinate routine project administration and financial details between Texas A&M University System members, sponsors, and administrative offices with an emphasis on post-award administration related to project set-up of sponsored research. We seek to hire a candidate who will support our commitment to enriching the learning and working environment by promoting a culture that respects all perspectives, talents & lived experiences per our Core Values. The preferred candidate will have previous experience within the Texas A&M University System, a bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field and experience interpreting and monitoring compliance with federal regulations, including OMB Circulars and Code of Federal Regulations, as they pertain to sponsored research. Experience in sponsored research projects management and/or accounting is a plus. The successful candidate will enjoy working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, providing exceptional customer service in a consultative manner, and will possess excellent communication skills. Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical capabilities with attention to detail and accuracy. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communications, organizational, interpersonal, proofreading, and time management skills. 

  • Ability to apply problem-solving skills to complex problems, prioritize, and manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. 

  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.  

  • Ability to utilize software systems and other electronic tools to successfully and efficiently execute projects.  

  • Excellent time management and customer service skills.

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field.

  • Experience within the A&M System or other university setting.

  • Work experience in a professional business environment. 

  • Experience interpreting and monitoring compliance with federal regulations, including OMB Circulars and Code of Federal Regulations, as they pertain to sponsored research.

  • Experience in reading and interpreting contractual documents.

  • Progressively responsible budgeting and/or project administration experience.

  • Experience in sponsored research projects management and/or accounting. 

  • Advanced experience using Word, Excel, and FAMIS, and/or Maestro to prepare budgets and interpret financial information.  

  • Strong mathematical and comprehension skills. 

  • Ability to review project scope of work for needed compliance. 

  • Certified Research Administrator (CRA)

Responsibilities

  • Award Intake- Monitors SRS Awards inbox.  Under supervision, reviews intake for organization and interprets a portfolio of standard award documents which includes budget, revenue, billing requirements, facilities and administrative cost rates, cost-sharing commitments, reporting requirements and deliverables.

  • Award Establishment -Executes the internal proposal routing process to expedite the project set-up of internal proposals. Demonstrates the ability to understand and navigate the internal routing process for new awards with regards to the TAMUS policy and procedures.  

  • SRS Liaison -Coordinates with SRS proposal administrators, contract negotiators, project administrators, and accounts receivable with regard to data elements necessary for project and account establishment.

  • Liaison with TAMUS Member Compliance- Confirms with Member Compliance Officials to help expedite and obtain required protocols and approvals necessary prior to releasing funding.
