This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at Towne Centre Drive and remote.

Under general supervision, the AV/IT Engineer IV will provide advanced-level audio visual technical assistance within the department, and is responsible for leading the Interactive Media Technology team in ongoing maintenance, operation, and end-user instruction of numerous complex interactive media systems used within the Health System; the position upholds HS AV Service Level Agreements, interacts with clients, Health System and Health Sciences technical staff, various UCSD internal groups, external departments, and outside vendors and consultants.

The incumbent will be working with various types of display offerings (e.g., Digital Signage, Patient Entertainment, Operating Room Status Boards), Crestron and Extron systems, Projectors, Cameras and a variety of new and advanced A/V manufacturer offerings. The position is responsible for complex assignments that range significantly in size, and that require independence, decision making, project management, and excellent judgment. This position requires the ability to work with a high-level of autonomy on a wide variety of tasks that will be assigned by the AV Engineering and Services manager. This role will be tasked with mentoring AV/IT Engineer III team members and providing assistance with technical escalations as needed.

  • Nine (9) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus five (5) years of related experience/training. Related experience: Advanced-level AV system design, AV/IT Project Management (Project budgets from $5k - $100k+), Mentoring technical professionals, Administration experience with collaboration tools e.g., Zoom, Cisco, Polycom and Commissioning, testing, troubleshooting and resolving issues related to advanced AV/IT systems.
  • Industry trainings: Biamp, Crestron, Extron, IPTV, Cisco Collaboration, InfoComm - CTS

  • Formal Project Management training

  • Lean Six Sigma training

  • Experience working in a healthcare environment around patients and medical staff.

  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $74,300 - $134,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $35.58 - $64.42

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
