Audiovisual Designer

  • Does the idea of designing and programming multi-million dollar AV systems excite you?
  • Can you juggle multiple tasks simultaneously and make it look like a breeze?
  • Do you have expertise in AV design including control system and DSP programming?
  • Are you looking for a blended job that will not keep you behind a desk all day but not on your feet all day?

So, what’s the day-to-day?
  • Consult with faculty and staff as an AV expert for various departments and colleges throughout the university
  • Design and overseeing AV systems from concept to deployment
  • Work alongside architects, project managers, and other stakeholders throughout the life-cycle of your projects
  • Develop all software applications needed for the systems you design
  • Create and maintaining AV construction documents and as-builts
  • Perform engineering level AV support as well as assisting technicians with troubleshooting as needed
  • Conduct training with AV staff as needed

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology Systems or related field plus 4 years experience in commercial AV systems design, development, programming and installation; or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Extensive knowledge of audio/visual systems and the ability to successfully design and navigate advanced commercial AV system architectures. Proficient in programing in C#, Python, SIMPL and SIMPL+ for AV system and web interfaces. Knowledge of methods of system analysis for determining equipment configurations. Knowledge of software testing and debugging. Able to collaborate with IT Systems Architects in topologies that integrate AV over IT. Ability to establish
working relationships with vendors, staff members and users. Knowledgeable, skilled and able to act as lead consultant in strategic planning and decision making regarding all AV project stakeholders while maintaining the ability to facilitate discussion between those that are both technical and non-technical.


Job Duties


Job Duty
Design, program and support integrated AV systems and collaboration technologies used for teaching and learning. Perform on-site installations, configuration of hardware and software for the appropriate collaborative service, and test for connectivity and interoperability as well as conduct client training sessions. Serve as subject matter expert for various AV systems projects campus-wide. Preserves all technical design, drawings, CAD files, programs and other project documentation within centralized digital repository for future reference and systems troubleshooting.

Provide engineering level troubleshooting support for AV systems as needed. Work with other hardware and software technical personnel to identify and resolve problems. Debug and test systems and systems software packages. Respond to and monitor assigned tickets to ensure “a best-in-class service delivery” is maintained at all times.
