Position Summary/Purpose of Position: | The Auto Service Technician performs automotive work at the advanced level. An Auto Service Technician should have demonstrated experience performing highly skilled work requiring the use of computer diagnostic equipment in the maintenance and repair of a variety of gasoline and diesel powered motor vehicles, transit buses, and equipment. Experience servicing medium and heavy-duty commercial passenger transit is a plus. This role will be responsible for advanced level tasks in the repair of computerized, mechanical, and electrical systems as well as diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing vehicles, automotive systems, and related equipment. Minimum Qualifications: | Experience: Five years progressively responsible experience in servicing, maintenance, and repair of motor vehicles or motor equipment. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Other: Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience. |
