The Opportunity

The Audio-Visual Project Manager works within the Video Engineering & Event Services department, a team of audio-visual engineers, service owners, technicians, and media producers.  This team supports audio-visual applications, infrastructure, and services across the university including the Audio-Visual Installation service, CUView Digital Signage, Event Technical Support & Media Production, Kaltura video streaming, and Zoom.

The Audio-Visual Project Manager works with a team of project coordinator, designers, engineers, installation technicians, and others to orchestrate a complex and nuanced service that installs audio-visual technology into the built environment, with a focus on classrooms, conference rooms, offices, and meeting rooms.  This position works closely across numerous disciplines and trades including audio-visual, network, and desktop engineering, acousticians, electricians, facilities directors, architects, and faculty.

Key responsibilities of the position include:

  • Portfolio management for the Audio-Visual Installation and Digital Signage services.
  • Accountability for the project intake, design & estimating, engineering, pre-installation, and project close out phases of the Audio-Visual Installation and Digital Signage services to ensure projects are completed on-time and within budget.

What We Need

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years’ experience in audio-visual installation, infrastructure-based project management, or construction management; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Experience working with a formal project management methodology including budgeting and estimating.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and strive for excellence in work quality.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with ability to professionally communicate verbally and in writing and demonstrated experience in consensus building and relationship management to effectively coordinate within an enterprise IT organization.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytic skills, conflict management, change management, team-building, stakeholder negotiation skills. 
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license; may be required to operate a motor vehicle (your own vehicle or Cornell-owned) to travel to/from job sites.
  • Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.
  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in information systems, project management, or a similar field. 
  • PMI certification, ITIL certification, AVIXA CTS, CTS-I, or CTS-D certification.
  • Experience with Smartsheet or similar low-code/no-code project management systems. 
  • Experience with Fieldwire or similar jobsite management tools.
