Job Description

Embry-Riddle Athletics is seeking applicants for the 2024-2025 Athletics Communication Internship. We are looking for an intern with a versatile skillset, who is willing to learn and bring a positive attitude to the workplace to help build upon the three pillars of the external department. (Build the Brand, Drive Revenue, Increase Attendance) Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is an NCAA Division ll institution and competes in the Sunshine State Conference.

Job Description:

  • Assist the Athletics department with publicity of all 20 of Embry-Riddle's NCAA II intercollegiate athletics teams.
  • Serve as the main contact and secondary contact for specific assigned sports.
  • Responsible for writing press releases and feature stories, basic graphic design work, and compiling statistics and records for dissemination to all internal and external constituencies, including, but not limited to, the media, community and opposing teams.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the athletic department's website and various social media platforms.
  • Recording and editing video highlights.
  • Live stream setup and management.
  • Some photography.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Support all facets of Embry-Riddle game day as needed.
  • Support all needs of Embry-Riddle external department as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Fans First mindset
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Excellent organization, time management, and communication skills
  • Strong willingness to learn and work in a team environment
  • Knowledge of the functions of a collegiate athletics department

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Previous intercollegiate athletics or professional sports experience, with an interest in communications and/or collegiate athletic administration/sports marketing as a career path. 
  • Basic experience with Statcrew/The Automated Scorebook/PrestoSports/Genius Sports in-game statistical programs
  • Experience with video recording and editing, as well as motion graphics is a plus.

Compensation:

The compensation of this 10-month internship is $21,840 and includes an optional University meal plan. This internship does not include any fringe benefits such as housing or health insurance.

Duration: 10 months
