Summary of Job Duties:

The Athletic Equipment and Vehicle Mechanic is responsible for performing skilled preventative maintenance and repair work on all assigned equipment, to include electronic record keeping of all work performed on the equipment, training and testing of all equipment operators, and keeping current on OSHA and EPA standards. Maintain inventory of tools and other shop supplies( ie. oils, lubricants, filters, belts, tires,).
Regular, reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma

  • At least two years of experience in a mechanical/maintenance setting

  • Must possess a valid driver's license


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a Sports Turf or Golf Couse operations setting

  • Specialized mechanic certificates (ie: GCSAA, ASE, or equivalent)

  • Experience working with commercial/golf/sports/fine turf mowing equipment maintenance and repairs

  • Experience working with vehicle and small engine maintenance and repairs(golf carts, UTV's, and blowers)

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of mower blade sharpening (both rotary blade and reel type)

  • Experience conducting training and testing of all equipment operators as it relates to the position and maintaining required documentation

  • Experience keeping all work areas to OSHA an EPA standards


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the mechanical operation of diesel and gasoline powered engines as well as electric motors

  • Ability to read, write, and follow technical information for repairs, as well as written and oral instructions

  • Ability to keep detailed records

  • Ability to operate equipment

  • Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers, employees, students, and the general public

  • Ability to read and decipher labels and directions

  • Ability to work independently without close supervision

  • Ability to perform multiple tasks and prioritize assignments

  • Ability to do required lifting (up to 50 lbs)

  • Ability to do required occasional lifting (up to 100 lbs)

  • Ability to perform basic computer skills
