Clackamas Community College at the Oregon City, Oregon campus seeks to hire a full-time permanent Astronomy Instructor position in our Science Department starting in fall 2024. Minimum Qualifications:
• M.S. in astronomy, astrophysics, physics, or physics education from an accredited institution with a minimum of thirty (30) quarter credit hours of graduate level astronomy or related coursework.

• Demonstrable experience providing culturally responsive instruction.
• Bicultural/multicultural skills sufficient to select appropriate behaviors, values and attitudes within different cultures during interactions with others.
• Demonstrates ability or desire to work with culturally, linguistically, and economically diverse students and communities.
• Demonstrates ability or desire to work with a variety of technological media.
• Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral forms.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience teaching college astronomy or physics classes. A portion of the teaching experience may be met by substantial graduate school TA experience.
• Teaching experience that supports student success in a diverse student body such as that found in a community college.
• Experience with designing and/or delivering courses with online elements using learning management systems such as Moodle, Blackboard, Canvas, etc.
• Experience with curriculum development and management.
• Evidence of innovative and diverse teaching methods and technologies to support teaching and learning in a dynamic educational environment.
• Experience with student-centered evaluation and authentic student learning outcome assessment practices.
• Effective classroom management, including facilitating/navigating challenging conversations.
