Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
This is a position for a tenure track faculty member at the Assistant Professor level in the area of Speech and Language Science/Disorders.
Responsibilities include establishing an independent research program, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, mentoring graduate students, and participating in departmental and university activities. Colleagues who would be interested in developing research ties with interdisciplinary initiatives on campus, such as the Neuroscience and Cognitive Science Program , Maryland Language Science Center , Maryland Initiative for Literacy and Equity , the Center for the Comparative and Evolutionary Biology of Hearing ,the Brain and Behavior Institute , the University of Maryland Autism Research Consortium and the Maryland Cochlear Implant Center of Excellence , are encouraged to apply. We engage with faculty and research in departments across the university including: Psychology, Engineering, Computer Science, Neuroscience, the I-School, Human Development, Special Education, Kinesiology, Family Science and the University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D) in a relevant discipline (i.e., speech-language pathology, psychology, linguistics).
Preferences:
Preferred:
An active scholar with a record of innovative research and teaching in the area(s) of speech and language. This can include but is not limited to the following: motor speech disorders, swallowing, voice disorders, neurodegeneration, augmentative and alternative communication, developmental language disorders, cultural and linguistic diversity, or autism and pragmatics.

Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) Speech-Language Pathology is strongly preferred.
