The University of South Carolina Sumter is seeking applications for the position of Assistant Dean of Student Success and Enrollment Management. USC Sumter is one of four Palmetto College regional campuses with the University of South Carolina and serves a five-county area in central South Carolina. USC Sumter delivers courses, degrees, and services that enhance employment and cultural opportunities through the efforts of a faculty committed to high-quality teaching, scholarship, and service.
The Assistant Dean of Student Success and Enrollment Management is required to provide leadership in the development of a holistic student support model that is adopted across campus, while creatively expanding the outreach and recruitment activities that are integral to the continued evolution and implementation of a Strategic Enrollment Management Plan. This includes an appreciation for the shifting dynamics of today’s traditional and nontraditional student population. This also requires an understanding of how to attract students within these populations to the College, including those who prefer to enroll only in online offerings.
The Assistant Dean will oversee activities, programs, and initiatives designed to attract and enroll a diverse prospective applicant pool. The Assistant Dean will also ensure that sufficient programs and support are developed and offered to improve student success.
The Assistant Dean is responsible for the leadership of multiple staff and departments and must be able to work collaboratively with all areas of the College.
The Assistant Dean of Student Success and Enrollment Management reports to the Palmetto College Campus Dean of USC Sumter.
Minimum Qualifications
Typically requires a bachelor’s degree and at least 8 years of experience including some prior management experience.
Substantial record (7+ years) of progressively responsible leadership that includes senior-level managerial experience in enrollment management, financial aid and/or academic advising and student success.
Demonstrable commitment to growth.
Proven ability to develop and foster good relationships with both internal campus stakeholders as well as external audiences such as local, state, and national agencies.
Knowledge and practical use of policies and procedures related to enrollment management, financial aid, academic advising and student support.
An understanding ability to lead adoption in the use of CRM technology for both admissions and student and academic support.
Preferred Qualifications
Earned doctorate from an accredited university.
Five (5) or more years of enrollment management leadership and supervision.
Evidence of leading change within an institution of high education.
Understanding and success with business development.
Understanding of effective marketing strategies and campaigns within higher education.
Demonstrated leadership and supervision skills.
Demonstrated ability to design data-informed, comprehensive outreach / recruitment strategies as well as efficient internal enrollment processes.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Initiative and excellent time management skills. Ability to work with diverse student populations and maintain strict confidentiality related to student data. A high degree of self-motivation. Ability to function productively and independently. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish positive working relationships with diverse sectors of the Campus community. Strong management and planning skills as well as a high degree of attention to detail.
Language skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, prospective students, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. 
Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to effectively present information to administration public groups, and/or board of directors.
Mathematical skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportion to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient with the use of internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Job Duty
Create and oversee a model for Student Success that establishes a shared and holistic support structure for students throughout their journey at USC Sumter. Oversee the academic support services offered to students. Coordinate the new and current student advising and registration process to ensure students receive proper guidance and support as they progress through the academic program of study. Develop the strategies and tactics to guide the registration process to maximize enrollment of students each term.

Develop short and long-term enrollment plans and implement requisite recruitment and enrollment management strategies to enable the College to sustain feasible growth in enrollment. Analyze and track enrollment patterns, modifying tactics as necessary to ensure enrollment targets are met. Develop and utilize assessment tools to measure effectiveness of recruitment activities. Oversee the Admissions team to ensure the plan is executed appropriately and that goals and benchmarks are established and met or exceeded throughout each year.
Collaborate with Associate Dean to lead and support Dual Enrollment Programs, ensuring robust course offerings, tactfully execute recruitment transition as students prepare college search.
Support Associate Dean, ensuring proper advisement for students enrolled in bachelor-level online programs offered through partner institutions and through Palmetto College.
