Asst Clinical Research Coordinator - CLIN RSCH CRD AST
Job Summary
This is a fulltime, career position. Under the direction of the study PI and supervised by the Director of Clinical Research within the UC Davis Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, this position serves as a Clinical Research Coordinator Assistant (aCRC) for a new randomized controlled trial behavioral intervention funded by the National Institutes of Health designed to reduce risk of cognitive decline and Alzheimer's disease. The intervention being evaluated provides training in memory compensation and lifestyle modifications (exercise, cognitive engagement and stress management) delivered to at risk older adults. Following the study protocol and strictly adhering to IRB and HIPAA regulations, the incumbent will assist with recruitment and will complete all screening of potential participants. He/she will also be responsible for administering all outcome measures including questionnaires, cognitive testing, and physical measurements. This person will also schedule participant appointments and pre-mail appointment paperwork.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Applicants are encouraged to upload license and certification if required of the position.
  • Certification for Biomedical Researchers (CITI) and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) within three (3) months of hire.
  • Experience administering and scoring psychological tests.
  • Experience working with cognitively impaired, elderly populations.
  • Basic knowledge of research study coordination.
  • Basic knowledge of research data collection and storage procedures.
  • Knowledge of psychological and medical terminology.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to record observations and scores legibly.
  • Able to establish good rapport with patients and caregivers.
  • Able to show sensitivity to the needs of patients with cognitive impairment and their caregivers.
  • Able to perform psychological testing or interviews for long periods of time.
  • Able to work in a team environment and independently.
  • Able to prioritize and organize work responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated flexibility with changing priorities, work environment, and schedules.
  • Takes initiative to accomplish tasks and completes duties as assigned.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Able to use computer systems and software applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in psychology preferred

Department Description
The Department of Neurology conducts basic and clinical research on the nervous system and provides clinical care for people with neurological disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia, epilepsy, movement disorders like Parkinson's and Huntington's diseases, tremor, dystonia, multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular conditions, headache and sleep disorders.
Our faculty includes leading neuroscientists, who work to expand our knowledge of nervous system function, as well as neurologists and psychologists who provide diagnosis and treatment for adults and children. We partner with colleagues from throughout the health system and work closely with the Department of Neurological Surgery to provide multidisciplinary team management for neurological disorders. We also offer cutting-edge diagnostic approaches, including advanced neuroimaging technologies and access to trials of new medications and other therapeutic modalities.

Work Environment
