Job Summary 

This full-time Asst/assoc Professor position within the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine is a unique role which combines responsibilities across graduate and undergraduate education, learner scholarship, resident health and well-being, and the Collaborative Care Training Institute.

Major Responsibilities / Duties / Critical Tasks:

Responsibilities:

  • Director of Graduate and Undergraduate Education in Integrated Behavioral Medicine (15%)
    • Collaborate with Behavioral Health Curricular and Distinction Directors to develop and refine curricula for undergraduate medical education.
    • Partner with Program Directors to oversee and enhance graduate medical education in integrated behavioral medicine.
    • Spearhead initiatives to integrate behavioral health knowledge and skills across all levels of medical training.
  • Associate Director of Learner Scholarship (50%)
    • Mentor residents and medical students in research projects and scholarly activities.
    • Facilitate the development and dissemination of research within the field of psychology and behavioral health.
    • Provide leadership in advancing the scholarship of teaching and learning in medical education.
  • Faculty Director of Resident Health and Well-Being (25%)
    • Work closely with the Graduate Medical Education (GME) office to promote and maintain the well-being of all residents.
    • Develop and implement programs and policies that support mental health, stress management, and work-life balance.
    • Serve as an advocate for resident concerns and a resource for personal and professional development.
  • Faculty in Department of Psychiatry Collaborative Care Training Institute (10%)
    • Participate in the training and supervision of interdisciplinary teams within the Collaborative Care model.
    • Contribute to the ongoing development and evaluation of training programs.
    • Engage in interprofessional education initiatives to enhance collaborative practice in psychiatric care.


Qualifications

 

Required Education / Experience:

  • MD, DO, PhD, or PsyD in Psychology, Psychiatry, or a related field.
  • Board certification in Psychiatry, Psychology, or Behavioral Health preferred.
  • Proven experience in medical education, curriculum development, and academic leadership.
  • A strong record of scholarship and mentorship in medical education and/or integrated behavioral medicine.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
