Job Summary

Applications are invited to lead the John Martinson Honors College at Purdue University, a residential college which provides a home and experience to the most outstanding of Purdue’s nearly 40,000 undergraduate students in West Lafayette and Indianapolis, Indiana. The John Martinson Honors College works in close partnership with Purdue’s degree-granting academic colleges to engage thousands of honors students across campus as part of its intellectual and residential community of scholars.

 

The successful candidate will lead the college to a top-five ranking amongst honors programs nationally, by enhancing academic excellence; expanding the reach and presence of the college across campus through a variety of new engagement models; playing to Purdue’s strengths in STEM, Business, and elsewhere; and ultimately helping to shape exceptional students to be exemplary scholar-citizens and multi-disciplinary thinkers who will go on to become future leaders in the world at large.
Reporting to Purdue’s Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning, the successful candidate must possess a terminal degree and academic credentials suitable for appointment at the rank of full professor (tenured, clinical or research) in one of Purdue’s academic departments.

 

Additional key responsibilities include:

  • Create a bold vision, set & meet ambitious, achievable goals to raise the profile of the college to the top five nationally, all while fostering and ensuring an enhanced climate of academic excellence.
  • Provide leadership across the university for all undergraduate honors programs, promoting and integrating the honors experience across Purdue’s entire university landscape.
  • Strengthen collaborative partnerships with Purdue’s degree-granting colleges and programs, to deliver transformative experiences for honors students which fuel impactful student career outcomes.
  • Strengthen partnerships across the Office of the Provost and entire academic enterprise to recruit, retain and foster strong success for high potential honors students.
  • Enhance the impact of Purdue’s National and International Scholarship Office, to further support Purdue students’ successful pursuit of prestigious awards, fellowships and recognition.
  • Strengthen research grant, foundation and other philanthropic support to deliver on the vision for the college.
