Stony Brook Southampton Hospital's Patient Access Services in a hospital setting encompasses many different roles and responsibilities. It is one of the most important and concentrated areas in healthcare. We are responsible for the delivery of the critical components of the revenue cycle, as well as keeping the hospital compliant with the many regulatory agencies, maintaining patient safety through correct patient identification practices and providing extraordinary customer service skills in situations that are often difficult.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Patient Access Services Associate conducts registration and/or pre-registration according to departmental policy and procedure. Keeps abreast of current insurance regulations and handles administrative support functions related to all departments under the division of Patient Access. Collaborates with nursing staff, non-clinical staff, and other professional staff to assist in an efficacious process flow and to ensure adherence to regulatory and/or contractual mandates. 

Position is located in the Hospital but must be flexible to work at the Hospital and Off-site facilities. Holidays and Weekends as needed.

Job Requirements & Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, or High School Equivalency GED is required. Associate's Degree in Business, or related field preferred.
  • Two (2) years of knowledge in Revenue Cycle, Health Care, and/or Medical Field required.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and multitasking skills.
  • Quantitative and analytical skills.

Prior to start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements: 

  • Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Southampton's Employee Health Services*
  • Successfully complete a 4-panel drug screen*
  • Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre-employment screenings.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s). 

Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer. 

*The Human Resources department will be responsible for any fee incurred for examination.
