Brandeis University is delighted to announce a career opportunity as an Associate Research Scientist. The Associate Research Scientist will be involved in conducting independent research, mentoring and assisting other lab members, assisting the PI with writing grants and manuscripts, performing independent biochemical experiments, analyzing data, and generating publication-quality figures, writing up results for publication, overseeing specific lab instruments (e.g., FPLCs, microscopes, fluorimeters, centrifuges), training new users on instruments, contributing to lab organization, helping maintain lab databases and - 80 organization.

Job Description:

  • Contribute to lab organization and oversight, including management of projects, organizing lab databases, overseeing lab instruments and training new users.

  • Independently perform, analyze, and interpret experiments, including: (i) purification and labeling of cytoskeletal proteins such as rabbit muscle actin and bovine brain tubulin, (ii) in vitro single molecule TIRF microscopy imaging (open-flow and micofludics-assisted) on microtubule and actin filaments and the molecular mechanisms regulating them, (iii) quantitative binding assays such as fluorescence anisotropy, and (iv) bulk kinetic assays monitoring cytoskeletal polymer assembly and disassembly. 

Requirements:

  • MS/MA/equivalent, PhD preferred

  • 5-8 years of work experience is required

  • Minimum of 2 years of management/supervision experience.

  • Strong expertise in purifying and handling proteins and performing biochemical assays on proteins, as well as expertise using TIRF microscopes, FPLCs, fluorimeters, and centrifuges, is required.
