Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
In exceptional cases, advanced assistant professors may be considered for this position. The successful candidate will have an established record of research in the field, as well as an ability to perform well in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels and a willingness to fulfill various service and administrative responsibilities. We have a particular interest in candidates who have some research program that is relevant to gender or racial justice. They should also be able to contribute to the department’s climate of inclusivity.
It would be an advantage for candidates to be able to teach courses in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE). Also appreciated would be teaching capacity in epistemology, feminist philosophy, history of modern philosophy, non-Western philosophy, or philosophy of race.

Ph.D. in philosophy or related area.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated expertise in ethics, broadly construed.
  • Ability to teach ethics and/or political philosophy at the undergraduate and graduate levels

  • Demonstrated productivity and excellence in research, as judged from writing samples and publications, and whose work has had or likely will have a significant impact in the field. 
  • Experience indicating they will be successful teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and excellent references.
  •  Ability to contribute to the department’s climate of inclusivity.
