The Psychology Department at the University of Alabama announces an opening for a tenured Associate or Full Professor of Psychology with expertise in brain and behavior including imaging [e.g., EEG], and or psychophysiological work to begin August 16, 2024. We are especially interested in applicants in these areas with any additional expertise in quantitative, clinical, social, or cognitive work focused on diverse adult samples (e.g., age, economic, ethnoracial, geographical, and other areas of diversity).

The Department of Psychology has a rich and diverse group of basic, clinical, and translational researchers. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in psychology or a related field and a record of research funding (or potential) and excellence in teaching. This is classified as a 9-month regular faculty position. Responsibilities include maintaining an active federally grant funded (or potential) program of research and teaching undergraduate and graduate psychology courses in neuroscience broadly defined. Candidates should be interested in both undergraduate and graduate teaching and invested in the mentorship model of research. Candidates with prestigious achievements in their field and exceptional national and international reputations will be eligible for consideration for significant endowment support through appointment as a Shelby Distinguished Professor https://provost.ua.edu/Shelby/.

The Psychology Department faculty and graduate students are distributed in four clinical (Psychology and Law, Geropsychology, Health, and Child) and three experimental (Social, Cognitive and Brain Sciences, and Developmental) emphasis areas. The Department offers a bachelor’s degree in psychology, doctoral degrees in both clinical and experimental psychology, and graduate minors in neuroscience and in statistics.
