Job Description
 

The newly created Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Missouri School of Medicine and Ellis Fischel Cancer Center is accepting applications for an AAPM Board-Certified Medical Physicist at the Associate or Professor level to be the division chief of medical physics. Academic rank, compensation and appointment type will be based on qualifications and experience.

The candidate will lead patient care consisting of external beam radiotherapy, SRS, SBRT, LDR prostate seeds, HDR, and other clinical services as needed. Candidate will provide mentorship/leadership of the Medical Physics and dosimetry teams, oversee department regulatory inspections, and provide general oversight of the Medical Physics and dosimetry programs.

The ideal candidate will be rigorous in their clinical work, and have strong clinical, research, and educational ambitions. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills to provide a seamless fit into the current collegiate environment.

The faculty appointment will be in the Department of Radiation Oncology. The candidate will be expected to maintain a clinical practice at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia. Research opportunities exist for candidates to lead in the areas of SRS for functional neurological disorders and for Cardiac VT, multi-lesion SRS, adaptive radiation therapy, advanced brachytherapy, radionuclide dosimetry, and other physics-lead clinical trials. The candidate is encouraged to plan a Medical Physics Residency Program and will be active in teaching the Medical Physics and Radiation Oncology residents once these training programs are established. Academic time will be used to pursue scholarly work in the candidate’s area of specialty/research experience with a goal of developing collaborative or independent, externally funded research. The candidate will be active in their national organizations and foster an academic environment.
 


Qualifications
 

Minimum Qualifications: M.S. degree in Medical Physics, or a closely related field; board certified; have the capability to be added to the HDR license, and possess at least 3-5 years of clinical experience.

Canidates will be evaluated on: Ph.D. in Medical Physics or closely related field.
