Position Title (Classification Title):  Associate/Full Professor, Machine Learning, Professor
Job Summary: The UWF’s Department of Intelligent Systems and Robotics seeks exceptional candidates for a full-time, tenured or tenure-track faculty position at the associate/full professor level. We are seeking for outstanding candidates in the area of Machine Learning (ML), and, while applications in all areas of ML will be considered, we will give preference to researchers focusing on Natural Language Processing and/or Reinforcement Learning. The successful candidate will have a strong record of securing external funding from organizations such as NSF and NIH and experience collaborating with industry partners. They will also be expected to work closely with the Institute for Human and Machine Cognition (IHMC) on pursuing DoD-funded research. Teaching responsibilities include graduate courses in the applicant's area of expertise. The faculty member will play a key role in shaping the department's emerging Ph.D. program and an interdepartmental research cluster in computational science. For research-focused candidates, a joint appointment with IHMC is possible. Overall, we seek an accomplished scholar who can enhance our department's national reputation and impact through innovative research, student mentoring, and DoD collaborations.

All tenured and tenure-track positions require a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related areas from an accredited institution at the time of employment.

FLSA: Exempt
Minimum Qualifications: Doctorate degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Earned tenure and promotion in rank in the field of the doctorate. Successful administrative experience in higher education with demonstrated achievement in academic personnel budget administration and comprehensive academic planning. At least one position held for a period of not less than three consecutive years. A successful track record demonstrating an ability to work effectively in an environment of shared governance that relies on collegiality and consultative decision-making. Experience in and knowledge of processes planning and policy implementation related to accreditation is required.
Position Qualifications: Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or field closely related to intelligent systems and robotics from an accredited institution with a strong commitment to academic research, service and teaching.
