Master's degree is required in Higher Education, Student Services, Business or related field and five years of related experience. Additional experience may not be used on a one-to-one basis to offset the educational requirements. Grade 8 (Salary)

Position Description:

The Associate Director of Graduate Affairs (Student Affairs) is responsible for directing graduate student service activities in the Office of Graduate Student Success (GSS) in the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD).  Duties include: oversee student services for CEHD graduate and doctoral student programs; develop and implement programs and initiatives related to graduate and doctoral student recruitment, admission, retention tracking, engagement, and graduation; supervise administrative staff, classified staff, graduate assistant/student workers in GSS Office, including hiring, onboarding, training, professional development, and evaluation; oversee application, selection, tracking and evaluation of 40 graduate assistants; oversee budget and accounts related to graduate student services; serve on  CEHD and University committees, and represent the CEHD/GSS at University and community functions; and perform related duties as assigned by the associate dean.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Oversee graduate student service activities related to recruitment, admission, retention, tracking and degree clearance of 1000+ CEHD graduate students annually.

  • Supervise 2 full-time employees and 1 graduate assistant
  • Oversee graduate admission for CEHD certificates, master's programs, and doctoral programs.
  • Direct the development and creation of print, web-based materials, social media, and presentations to assist in the graduate student recruitment and enrollment initiatives for the CEHD.
  • Oversee the maintenance of graduate student records
  • Ensure accurate admission, retention, graduation, and certification data is maintained for internal and external reporting.
  • Provide training and development of graduate student services staff members and graduate faculty
  • Serve as the liaison with all CEHD graduate programs to enhance communication, inform and review policies and procedures, and facilitate advancement of graduate students.
  • Work with the associate dean to approve, sign, submit and record student forms on the dean's behalf
  • Advise the associate dean and dean of potential problem areas and make recommendations to improve the graduate admission and student services process
  • Oversee the process of graduate assistant assignments
  • Review academic standing of graduate students
  • Oversee graduate student degree clearance and graduation requirements
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for students who have special requests, for example, regarding visiting scholar requests, War College Fellows, and leaves of absence.
  • Develop and implement graduate student engagement and retention activities and initiatives
  • Oversee the tracking and milestones of master's degree and graduate certificate students
  • Oversee the admission, tracking of milestones, progress, and completion of CEHD doctoral students including quarterly check-ins with doctoral students nearing the 6th year and beyond to ensure progress towards degree
  • Oversee graduate student communication
  • Monitor and respond to graduate student issues/concerns/complaints
  • Provide online student support and work with Delphi liaisons
  • Serve as selected or elected on College and University Committees
Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate degree preferred.  Candidates should demonstrate good interpersonal skills, experience with statistical reports and databases, knowledge of graduate admission and student engagement, experience with student records systems, supervision experience, and college student interaction.

Target Compensation Maximum: $98,100

Target Compensation Minimum: $65,400

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
