Associate Director of Registration - School of Law

The Associate Director of Registration collaborates with the senior director of registration to lead the student registration process and collection of data for all records maintained by the Registrar's Office of Emory University's School of Law. Directs day-to-day operations to maintain the accuracy, security, and compliance of student records while effectively serving students, faculty, alumni, and other stakeholders through innovation and collaboration.

The associate director will perform work in three main areas:

 

REGISTAR:

  • Manage and maintain all aspects of matriculated student academic records including enrollment, examinations, class rank, and bar passage,
  • create and update course schedules including liaising with faculty regarding course details, times, and locations,
  • ensure graduation requirements are met by proactively communicating with faculty and students to resolve issues as well as through monitoring of student degree completion with notification of advising staff when an issue is detected,
  • develop communications (print and/or digital) for distribution to students, faculty, and staff,
  • provide accurate reports or data from OPUS to other departments, and
  • work with the senior director of registration to test and troubleshoot software issues and determine how to more fully utilize existing resources.

 

COMPLIANCE:

  • Maintain the accuracy, security, and compliance of student records while effectively serving students, faculty, alumni, and other stakeholders through innovative, collaborative, and effective processes and procedures,
  • implement and enforce Emory University's policies and protocols regarding the use, dissemination, integrity, security, and privacy of student information, in accordance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations, including the Family Educational and Rights Privacy Act (FERPA),
  • prepare and maintain user documentation manuals,
  • audit data in the student management system, and
  • oversee the development and maintenance of effective departmental information systems.

OTHER DUTIES:

  • Maintain a high level of customer service within the department,
  • develop short- and mid-term goals and objectives,
  • integrate emerging technologies and best practices, inclusive of enterprise software, to all related transactions,
  • in collaboration with the senior director of registration, propose strategic and operational plans for ongoing improvements in efficiency, effectiveness of operations, and services and support,
  • work closely with academic services and student support functions such as the Academic Engagement and Student Success, relevant associate/vice deans, and other administrative units within the school of law,
  • oversee the preparation of statistical reports for internal and external use, both independently and in coordination with Institutional Research,
  • participate with the University Registrar’s Office and other departments in procedural and best practice reviews after major events (such as registration and exams) to identify and implement necessary process improvements,
  • train and assist staff,
  • work with the senior director of registration to meet or exceed customer service standards,
  • participate in appropriate university- or school-wide committees and working groups, and
  • perform related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in the school's area of specialty or a related field.
  • Five years of experience working with student records.
  • Working knowledge of student registration and computerized student records information systems.
  • Proficient in Excel and database management.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree in business administration, data management, education, or related field,
  • two years of experience as a registrar or associate registrar (or related senior position within a Registrar’s office),
  • five years of college administration experience, preferably within a professional school,
  • demonstrated strong analytical, planning, writing, organization, and communication skills,
  • experience working with data, drawing conclusions, and making recommendations based on analysis of available, accurate, and relevant information, and/or
  • Juris Doctor.

  • First round interviews occur via zoom the week of February 5.
  • Final in-person interviews occur the week of February 19.
