Job Title: Associate Director of International Student Program Operations

Summary of Position:    The Assoicate Director of International Student Program Operations plays a critical role in supporting the efficient and effective operation of international programs within Indiana Wesleyan University’s National & Global ( N&G) unit. Reporting directly to the Director of Student International Programs Residencies, this position involves overseeing various administrative and operational aspects of international student services, program development, compliance with regulatory requirements, and ensuring the smooth operation and success of the residency programs through effective execution and troubleshooting. This supervisory position collaborates with internal stakeholders, faculty, staff, and external partners to promote a welcoming and supportive environment for international students while ensuring alignment with IWU's mission and strategic objectives


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Liaison with the Director of International Student Programs Residencies and the International Student Program team to address international students’ unique needs and challenges while promoting student success 
  • Hire, train, and supervise a team of direct reports on expectations, professional performance, and leadership, including directing staffing as needed at residencies
  • Collaborate with the International Student Program team to create supportive programming for international undergraduate and graduate students, such as orientations and co-curricular activities
  • Oversee the ongoing systems related to residencies, such as attendance record keeping and student ID production 
  • Assist in developing and managing the international program budget, including forecasting expenses, monitoring expenditures, and optimizing resource allocation to support program objectives 
  • In conjunction with the Regional Operations team, coordinate on-site and front-line response to incidents, including those that are highly complex in nature (i.e., sexual misconduct, alcohol and drug-related behavior, mental health concerns, bias incidents, and community conflict
  • In conjunction with the Regional Operations team, examine the condition of the facilities, including furniture, fixtures, and equipment, to ensure they are meeting building standards and the needs of the International Student Program 
  • Liaison with the Director of Faculty Initiatives to provide support, fostering a smooth integration process for both faculty and students 
  • Serve as a Designated School Officer (DSO) with the Department of Homeland Security

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

  • Masters preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required

Experience

  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience working with international students preferred
  • Experience with data utilization and learning assessment as a tool to measure the effectiveness of the department's programs
  • Preferred experience in global education or international student services

Required Skills

  • Possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement
  • Ability to work flexible hours and the availability to work weekends, specifically Fridays and Saturdays, during residency periods to ensure seamless program execution
  • Must be a US Citizen or permanent resident to become a Designated School Officer (DSO) with the Department of Homeland Security
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed to support the residency programs, which may include overnight stays
  • Ability and desire to learn new technologies
  • Demonstrate a commitment to international student success
