Position Summary
The Associate Director of Gift Processing and Data Integrity is an important member of the Gift Administration team in the Office of Advancement at William & Mary. The Associate Director reports to the Senior Director of Gift Administration and has two-fold responsibilities to manage and lead the Data & Records Integrity team and the Gift Processing team.
The Associate Director’s work requires exceptional attention to detail, intermediate to advanced computer skills, in-depth knowledge BBCRM and the ability to lead the team while managing to Key Performance Indicators. The Associate Director is responsible for identifying and leveraging opportunities to continually improve the quality of data and its entry into our systems. Additionally, this role proactively collects all needed information from multiple sources to post all gifts effectively and accurately; they also play a role in following up on donor inquiries, working proactively with gift officers and other internal stakeholders.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education, training and or experience. 
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness, including, but not limited to, collaboration, staffing and programming.
  • Experience using relational databases (typically 5 years).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and budgeting principles and policies, with the ability to interpret complex administrative policies, and make independent and sound judgments.
  • Ability to lead, supervise, motivate and develop staff working as part of a team.
  • Working knowledge of the use of data processing techniques in maintaining accounting records with the demonstrated ability to apply and adapt established accounting methods to a variety of financial transactions and records, and the demonstrated ability to assemble, analyze and prepare reports and statements comprising complex financial data.
  • Experience training and directing the work of supporting staff. (typically 2-4 years)
  • Excellent analytical and computational skills and the ability to process large volume of transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Understanding of the complexities of gift processing and gift administration and philanthropy in higher education.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the fundraising process and business intelligence concepts to include the ability to understand business financial concepts.
  • Strong analytical acumen to retrieve, analyze, and interpret financial information and manage data.
  • A strong aptitude for logical thinking and intellectual curiosity. Strong problem solving, analytical and organizational skills are a must.
  • Strong organization skills with the proven ability to adapt to shifting priorities and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively with a diverse audience, with the ability to translate analysis into an accessible format when interacting with non-technical audiences. Proficiency in delivering information clearly to others in both oral and written forms.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills necessary to interface with a diverse group of colleagues and constituents as well as the ability to lead and build consensus among colleagues.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent initiative, sound judgment and work under minimal supervision, and maintain strict confidentiality; handle sensitive information and material in a discretionary manner.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in a related field.
  • Experience working on a gift processing team. (typically, 2-4 years)
  • Knowledge of CASE or AASP gift processing best practices for higher education.
  • Experience working in a fundraising environment within higher education. (typically, 2-4 years)
  • Ability to manage the daily workflow, assign and delegate responsibility for data entry deadlines, Conduct needs assessments and develop plans to increase efficiency of departmental operations and process improvement.
  • An appreciation for and/or connection to William & Mary, its mission, history and unique focus on undergraduate research and a liberal arts education. 
  • A curious nature and interest in lifelong learning. 
  • The desire and ability to innovate and implement dynamic change.

Advertised Pay Range Up to $80,000, commensurate with experience
