Summary:
The Associate Director of Entrepreneurship plays a vital role in driving entrepreneurial initiatives within iSPI. This multifaceted position encompasses a blend of teaching responsibilities, curriculum design, fundraising, and supervision. The Associate Director will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to promote entrepreneurship, manage and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders in academia, industry, and government, provide mentorship, guidance and resources to aspiring entrepreneurs, organize workshops, advise leadership on current and future trends in entrepreneurship and innovation. Because iSPI is self-supporting, programs must generate sufficient revenue to cover operational cost while providing funding for the development of new programs. The Associate Director will manage and report on budget and financial performance of entrepreneurship programs.
Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Through independent judgement and decision-making, this position will coordinate classroom activities, including teaching innovation related coursework for high school college and entrepreneurs at-large, including seminars, workshops and online asynchronous coursework. 
  • Teaching entrepreneurship programs for high schools, including the Sangamon CEO program and other online and in-person entrepreneurship related content. 
  • Through independent judgement and decision-making, this position will plan, develop, and administer high-quality entrepreneurship programming that reflect community and industry needs and expectations. Advising on strategic planning and implementation for iSPI. Analyze program feasibility by conducting needs analyses. Identify and develop course programs relevant to community and industry needs. Oversee student enrollments in iSPI programs and supervise support services, as needed. Document and administer education credits. Evaluate, assess, and supervise program offerings, staff, and instructors. Provide quality improvement guidance in instructional content and pedagogies, as needed. 
  • Develop program/course descriptions that accurately reflect needed goals and objectives and content. Partner with academic units and professional organizations to identify talented experts to develop and deliver content. 
  • Through independent judgement and decision-making, this position will oversee the budgeting and fiscal officer responsibilities for the unit. Plan an annual budget that will support courses and programs while generating substantial revenue. Coordinate with Business Administration Associate to provide monthly budget updates to the Director. Supervise the design, develop and analyses of reports related to non-credit program enrollments and sustainability. 
  • Minimum Qualifications:
    A master’s degree in business, finance, economics, philosophy, history, marketing, English or communications.
    Two years of experience in developing, promoting, managing, evaluating and/or delivering any education related programming or professional education for a diverse group of learners.
    Experience in developing marketing content and materials to promote programs

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Some fiscal officer, budget and strategic planning experience
    Experience with course delivery
    Grant-getting experience
    Experience in startups, startup incubators, accelerators

    Ability to plan & develop programming
    Ability to make independent decisions based on data-driven decision approaches
    Ability to collaborate with a variety of constituencies
    Excellent oral and written communication skills
    Excellent mentoring and interpersonal skills
    Highly literate, communicative, client-friendly, team-oriented and flexible
    Possess skill at handling simultaneous projects and initiatives that create a variety of stress levels
    Ability to schedule, coordinate and manage onsite and online programs and qualified non-credit instructors
    Ability to provide student support
    advanced-level skills with Microsoft Office products
