Position Summary:
 
Established in 1965, the Claire Trevor School of the Arts (CTSA) at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) has been a national leader in training emerging artists and performers. The school serves as UCI’s creative engine, dedicated to cultivating the artistic talents of over 820 undergraduate majors and 125 graduate students. Through a fusion of liberal arts principles, critical thinking, and hands-on experiences, CTSA empowers students to create, explore, and innovate in the realm of the arts. At the core of CTSA’s philosophy is the integration of creativity and technology across its diverse degree programs in Art, Dance, Drama, and Music. Additionally, the school serves as the public-facing entry to the university, hosting over 200 performances and exhibitions annually. This forward-looking approach ensures that students not only master the fundamentals of their craft but also engage in interdisciplinary collaborations that extend into the business community. The Office of Development at CTSA develops, directs, and implements a strategic fundraising operation to generate philanthropic gifts that drive the mission of CTSA. This is accomplished under the direction of the Dean and in close collaboration with our major stakeholders including department Chairs and faculty, University Advancement, and our volunteer leadership on the Dean’s Arts Board. 
 
Under the general direction of the Senior Director of Development, the Associate Director of Development is a fundraising professional who works collaboratively with the Development team in the Claire Trevor School of the Arts and University Advancement colleagues to lead specific campaign development programs and secure significant philanthropic support for the Claire Trevor School of the Arts, with a goal of raising $500,000 annually in annual and major gifts. The scope of responsibilities includes qualification, cultivation, and solicitation, of new and existing donors, donor engagement, meeting metrics, development and coordination of fundraising programs, development of collateral material, presentations, newsletters, stewardship, and coordination of leadership meetings. The incumbent performs coordination of complex duties that engage with confidential and sensitive information of a broad scope related to donor relations, annual and major gift fundraising, and public relations. Incumbent is a motivated individual willing to partner with development officers, and faculty in priority areas to create opportunities for friends, alumni, and corporations to give. The Associate Director of Development will manage and implement the annual fund, solicit leadership annual fund donations, and solicit major gifts.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $81,900.00 - $90,000.00 (Annual Salary). The Full Salary Range for the salary grade this position is assigned to is $81,900.00 - $150,500.00 (Annual Salary).
 
Required:
 
  • 2-5 years of professional fundraising experience, preferably at an arts or higher education institution; or equivalent combination of education/experience. ·       
  • Campaign fundraising experience preferred.
  • Thorough working knowledge of fundraising, donor relations, and public relations concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques.
  •  Strong knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, etc. ·       
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside constituencies. ·       
  • Ability to prepare complex and detailed proposals and related materials. ·       
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills, including skills in creative and effective decision-making, problem identification/avoidance/resolution, and project management skills. ·       
  • Strong skills in maintaining confidentiality. ·       
  • Ability to work independently with department, school, and institutional goals in mind. ·       
  • Team-oriented strategist able to effectively manage complex situations involving multiple and sometimes competing constituencies. ·       
  • Skill in communicating persuasively, both orally and in writing, about private philanthropy in general and in particular as it applies to UCI.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Ability to work effectively with university administrators, deans, faculty, and community volunteers to support the mission of the university. . 
  • Creativity and tenacity in approach to prospect development and ability to successfully move prospects across the donor continuum. 
  • Talent for matching donors’ philanthropic passions with the organizational initiatives for the Claire Trevor School of the Arts. 
  • Experience with volunteer management and overseeing support groups. 
  • Knowledgeable of grant searching and application strategies. 
  • Skill to use a personal computer and computer software programs at the level of sophistication required for the development office. 
  • Proven ability to use MS Office Suite and database programs. 
  • High-proficiency in use of Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. 
  • Familiarity with the Internet and how to conduct searches.

 
Preferred:
 
  • Thorough working knowledge of the location, its vision, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure. 
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce or comparable donor/prospect database system
     

Special Conditions Required:
 
  • Required to drive on occasion in order to perform the routine or essential job responsibilities for the position. 
  • Must possess a valid California driver license and participate in the DMV Pull Notice Program.
