$8,333.00 - $9,167.00 Per Month ($100,000 - $110,000.00 Annually)

Position Summary

The Associate Director, Administration & Human Resources (AD) provides leadership, strategy and oversight for the administration and human resources (HR) units of University Corporation. With approximately 200 auxiliary employees, the AD will use independent judgment in developing strategies and polices related to the auxiliary’s HR management, operations, and compliance. This includes recruitment, onboarding, staff oversight and training, compliance and policy development, and HR leadership and support to the various UCorp programs and employees. The AD will also serve as a policy and compliance officer, providing regular review, assessment, revision and updating of U Corp’s policies and practices. The AD serves as a key member of the University Corporation leadership team, which involves both strategic planning and implementation. The AD acts on behalf of the Director of Finance and Administration, as directed.

Position Information

Leadership and Personnel Management

  • Leads, directs and supervises UCorp staff to achieve excellence in the performance of work assignments and in the identification, development and execution of strategic initiatives in support of department
  • Addresses personnel matters arising from UCorp including employee recruitment, retention, performance management (organizational and individual), labor/employee relations, training, and development.
  • Collaborate with the Director on staffing effectiveness of the auxiliary, and develop strategic goals for improvement.
  • Participates as key member of the executive management team.
  • Inform and present the UCorp’s insurance package to the UCorp Finance committee and Board as required.
  • Serve as liaison to campus HR as needed. 

Operations and Compliance

  • Analyze and develop policies and procedures within and across organizational lines to review and improve workflow that ensures effective, efficient and HR continuous services for UCorp.
  • Works in conjunction with the Director to lead, mentor staff, and training in all areas of administration and finance with specific focus on human resources involving benefit administration, adherence with federal, state, county and CSU policies and improving the service component of UCorp HR department.
  • Provides collaborative leadership and effectively manage projects and daily auxiliary HR operations to ensure that new rules, regulations, or other changes in operations are communicated in a clear and timely manner to UCorp programs.
  • Advises and educates UCorp programs, employees, and stakeholders about relevant compliance requirements, trends, and industry best practices.
  • Offer subject matter expertise on all U Corp policies to U Corp colleagues and project directors.
  • Conduct regular review of all U Corp policies to ensure compliance, determine need for any modifications or amendments, or new policies or practices. Where applicable ensure related documentation is maintained for each policy.
  • Oversees UCorp’s payroll processes and procedures that align with HR policies, guidelines, and practices at the Federal, State, CSU, and Auxiliary levels.

Other Duties as Assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and work experience.
  • 5-7 years of progressively responsible and successful management of complex organizations responsible for comprehensive and strategic HR functions and responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, experience, proficiency and success:
    • In developing strategies to critically analyze and solve problems in a fast-paced, daily changing environment.
    • In the use of interpersonal communication skills, presentations, reporting and other strategies to effectively inspire, influence and lead others
    • In the identification and application of appropriate strategies to critically analyze, solve and prevent systemic disconnects in operational patterns
    • In the use of appropriate project management skills and solutions to manage institutional business and administrative practices and initiatives  
  • Experience with Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
  • Ability to work collaboratively at all levels (colleagues, management, staff), and effectively resolve sensitive matters.
  • Ability to analyze, problem solve, and conflict resolution strategies in human resources and business practices.

Preferred Qualifications

An advanced degree in HR management or a related field.
