Administrative Summary
The University of Idaho is seeking to hire a tenured Associate or Full Professor for an Associate Director of the Idaho Agricultural Experiment Station (IAES) position, and invites applications from internal current faculty at the University of Idaho. The Associate Director will assist in management of Research and Extension (R&E) Centers throughout Idaho but especially those in southern Idaho. This will include evaluation of staff and mentoring and evaluation of faculty at R&E Centers in collaboration with unit heads. They will develop and maintain public relations with key stakeholders and represent IAES at various meetings. This individual will provide leadership of the Foundation Seed program and serve on the Idaho Crop Improvement Association board. Service on internal and external committees related to the function of IAES is expected as well as service as Administrative Advisor of Multistate Hatch Research projects as assigned by the Director. In addition, other duties may be assigned as needed and as time allows. This position reports to the Associate Dean of Research & Director of Idaho Agricultural Experiment Station and will work in close collaboration with a dotted line to the Dean of College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. This position will be offered a 15% stipend based on the chosen candidates base salary.
Contingency Description
This administrative appointment or the administrative portion of the faculty appointment is temporary. Employee acknowledges and agrees that in the event there is no longer a need for the administrative assignment, as determined by University in its sole discretion, University may change this Agreement and remove the administrative salary and/or course release during the contract year and employee may return to their faculty appointment, upon 60 days written notice.

Qualifications


Minimum Education/Degree Required Listed degree qualification is required at time of hire.
Required Qualifications
  • Current rank of Associate or Full Professor.
  • Tenure in an UI academic department utilizing IAES resources.
  • Experience with research, with a record of successfully funded research within the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences.
  • Experience in research administration.
  • Experience with the mission of the Idaho Agricultural Experiment Station addressing critical research questions aiming to improve the quality of life for Idahoans, impacting citizens and the state economy by working with producers, businesses and communities.
  • Experience with the academic and Extension components within CALS.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience as a team leader and coordinator of research teams.
  • Knowledge of plant variety and intellectual property development.
  • Demonstrated excellence in engagement with stakeholders.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
  • Willingness to travel.
