Position Highlights

The Associate Director of Graduate Interdisciplinary Programs (GIDP) provides collaborative leadership with a focus on developing, implementing and assessing our student experience strategy within the GIDPs. This position requires close collaboration with each Graduate Interdisciplinary program to ensure program stability and sustainability. The Associate Director will report directly to the Faculty Director of Graduate Interdisciplinary Programs. In the event that the Faculty Director position is not filled, the Associate Director will report to the Dean of the Graduate College. The major duties and responsibilities are listed below and other duties may be assigned.

Duties & Responsibilities

Student Support:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor the success of the student experience strategy through metrics collected and analyzed through student satisfaction and engagement surveys, student focus groups, timely progression through milestones, post-graduate placement surveys, stakeholder focus groups, and continued engagement with GIDP graduates
  • Working collaboratively across the college, develop and implement strategic goals for professional development, career readiness and graduate competitiveness.  
  • In collaboration with GIDPs, coordinate all student events, including but not limited to, orientation, commencement, and research showcases
  • Coordinate the selection and distribution processes of all student awards provided by the Graduate College

Program Support:

  • Develop, implement, and supervise integrated strategy for onboarding new directors of graduate studies (DGS) and graduate program coordinators (GPC). This includes serving as back-up for critical functions when these positions are temporarily vacated.
  • Working closely with Faculty Director and/or Dean, will develop program budgets based on activity-informed metrics and monitor the use of these funds according to University policies and procedures.
  • In collaboration with stakeholders, will aid in the development of new GIDPs that have strong potential for student success and career placement.
  • Provide logistical support to GIDPAC, including but not limited to, meeting support, onboarding new officers, course approvals, and collaborating on new initiatives.

Strategic analysis and financial sustainability:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor the success of programs through metrics collected and analyzed through UAccess dashboards, student databases, student exit surveys, APR reviews, enrollment trends and other emerging data sources.
  • Working closely with Faculty Director and/or Dean, will develop actionable data and insights to assess progress toward ABOR and UA retention goals with respect to student success and timely completion of degrees.    
  • Working closely with Faculty Director and/or Dean, will develop actionable data and insights to assess and promote financial sustainability of GIDPs

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Skilled on leading a team
  • Knowledge of University academic programming and policies
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experienced in using Analytics and pulling data/reports.
