The University of Southern California Leventhal School of Accounting is seeking applications for a full-time Associate Director for Graduate Advising. Reporting to the Director of Graduate Programs, the Associate Director will provide academic guidance to Leventhal’s graduate students and work with the rest of the Graduate Programs team in supporting Leventhal’s top-ranked Master of Accounting (MAcc) program, the full-time Jennifer and James R. Parks Master of Business Taxation (MBT) program, the part-time MBT for Working Professionals, and the newly developed Business Taxation Certificate.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide academic counseling and planning for Leventhal graduate students. Advise on matters of curriculum, courses transfer credits, and degree requirements. Consult and connect with faculty regarding graduate student performance.

  • Maintain student records and coordinate registration activities, grading, degree progress, enrollment, degree clearances, prerequisite waivers, and degree verification and transcripts. Monitor class enrollments and waitlists. Process student petitions and complete grade change requests.

  • Compile reports on student data to aid in the completion of reports for the accounting profession and graduate accounting programs.

  • In cooperation with the Director of Graduate Programs, Associate Dean for Graduate Programs, and other Leventhal administrators, coordinate curricular changes and new course approvals in Curriculog, determine classroom needs, and coordinate the class schedule. Update the website as necessary.

  • Support the Associate Director for Graduate Admissions in the promotion of Leventhal’s graduate programs including the recruitment, interviewing, and selection of students.

  • Support the Associate Director, Career Strategist in the promotion of career-related events and resources.

  • Coordinate and support graduate student events including Summer Intensive, orientation, holiday and end-of-year celebrations, commencement, and other programs both in person and online, with some evening and weekend requirements. Process expenses and invoice payments in Concur and/or Workday.

  • Maintain currency on university policies, procedures and regulations pertaining to registration, course and degree requirements, graduation requirements, petitions, student expectations, student resources/services, and other relevant matters.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to multicultural understanding, student diversity, educational equity, inclusion, and cultural competency.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. Occasional nights and weekends required. The University reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

  • Ability to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively.

  • Flexibility and responsiveness to the needs of the team, students, faculty, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education.

Minimum Experience: 5 years

Minimum Field of Expertise: Directly related experience in leading the delivery of student services.

Salary Range: 

"The annual base salary range for this position is $83,490.10 - $105,635.98. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations."
