Job Summary
ETSU Athletics is accepting applications for an Associate Director for Communications. This position is responsible to the Director for Communications for assistance with public relations and publicity for the university’s athletics program including production of ETSU Athletics and University publications, community public relations, graphic design, content creation, marketing engagement, event management, preparing news releases, assisting with the management of graduate assistants, interns, and other student help; and performing other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Possess strong writing, editing, and design skills.
  • Computer skills using Mac and PC platforms, in addition to Stat Crew and/or NCAA Live Stats experience with football, volleyball, basketball, soccer and/or baseball/softball.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Software.
  • Previous experience working in a college sports information office.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other computer skills required.
  • Self-starter with an outstanding work ethic.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and information.
  • Strong teamwork aptitude.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and listening skills.
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate multiple tasks.
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of East Tennessee State University, the Southern Conference, and the NCAA.
  • Experience being a public address announcer and conducting interviews with coaches and student-athletes.
  • Experience working with outside media outlets.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 1 year of experience working in Athletic Communications/Sports Information at the Division 1 and/or professional sports level.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree.
  • 3 years of experience working in Athletic Communications/Sports Information at the Division 1 and/or professional sports level.
