Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
The Office of Campus Activities and Programs is a department within the Division of Student Affairs at UNC Greensboro (UNCG). The mission of the Office of Campus Activities & Programs (CAP) is to provide opportunities for students to create meaningful relationships, explore interests, and develop a sense of self and an appreciation for their community. We support opportunities for transformative learning through involvement. We encourage participation and engagement in student groups; planning, executing, and experiencing campus events and programs; and fostering leadership in the community are cornerstones of involvement. Specific departmental responsibilities include the coordination of student group affiliation, student group leadership and training development, campus wide programming, and administrative advising of select student groups including Activities and Campus Events (ACE), Fraternity and Sorority Life, the Student Government Association (SGA), and the Student Media Board. Additional responsibilities include planning major campus traditions such as Rawkin Welcome Weeks, Minerva’s Middays, Homecoming, Fraternal Leadership Institute, Winterfest, the Spartans of Excellence banquet, SOAR presentations for new students, and other traditional programs.
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Director of Campus Activities and Programs, the Associate Director for Student Groups & Programming serves the Office of Campus Activities and Programs. This position is responsible for the oversight of student group recognition and development, campus-wide programming initiatives, and direct advising of the Student Government Association (SGA). This position directly supervises two full-time, master’s level program coordinators and indirectly supervises two master’s level graduate students.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A Master’s Degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, or related field.
  • At least three years of full time experience in campus activities and programs through student group development, student governance, campus-wide programming initiatives, or related areas of student engagement in a college or university setting.
Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates
Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct experience advising student government associations, student programming boards, and student groups at the college or university level.
  • Experience supervising full time professional staff members, graduate assistants, and student staff.
  • Demonstrated creativity and innovation in developing programs and strategies to engage students on campus.
  • Experience and comfort in working in a multicultural environment and a commitment to the value of student activities as an experiential learning process.
