Job Overview

UC College of Engineering and Applied Science invites applications for an Associate Dean for Undergraduate Affairs. The Associate Dean for Undergraduate Affairs is a key member of the Dean's leadership team and will assist the Dean with preparing and revising undergraduate academic programs and/or plans while promoting and serving as a model for teaching achievement and professional service. The Associate Dean will help develop strategies to achieve educational goals and objectives and is responsible for the administration and efficient conduct of the undergraduate educational programs of the college and for integrating the plans of the college with those of the university. This position will report to the Dean of the College of Engineering and Applied Science and will support the University's mission and commitment to excellence and inclusion of our students, faculty, and staff in academics here in CEAS.


Essential Functions

 

  • Promote academic excellence in our undergraduate programs.

  • Oversee and manage the undergraduate programs in CEAS, including the curriculum and the duties of the Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Academics.

  • Oversee enrollment management for all CEAS undergraduate programs, including oversight of the Offices of Advising and Recruitment & Admissions.

  • Oversee the accreditation of all CEAS undergraduate programs.

  • Oversee the management of all CEAS facilities including offices, both teaching and research laboratories, and computer labs. This includes main campus and our other locations.

  • Serve as the undergraduate affairs representative for the College of Engineering and Applied Science at any function.

  • Meet with the Department Heads of CEAS academic units for flow of information and communication related to undergraduate programs and facilities.

  • Foster a culture of accountability in which academic and enrollment goals are specified, strategies articulated, and results against goals are reported.

  • Act as a visionary academic leader with a demonstrated ability to turn vision into reality and inspire faculty, staff, students, and the community with ambitious but attainable academic objectives and will build a plan to lead CEAS toward those objectives.

  • Perform other related duties as may be assigned by the Dean of CEAS. This job description can be changed at any time.

     


  • Required Education

    Ph.D. or terminal degree satisfying the requirements for the rank of an Associate or Full Professor (tenured, tenure-track or non-tenure track) in CEAS.


    Required Experience
    • Seven (7) years of relevant work experience. A minimum of three (3) years of higher education administrative experience. This higher education administrative experience should be as either a program chair, graduate studies director, assistant or associate department head, department head or as an assistant or associate dean or dean.
    • Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion and a proven record of achieving diversity goals.
