The Associate Dean/Health Sciences is to provide supportive leadership to the Dean in operations of the Dean's Office in the pursuit of the College Mission/Vision, and to work collaboratively with the College Administrative Team in the delivery of excellent academic and academic service related programs.

Program Management - 30
Work with COHS Academic Directors to facilitate college-wide coordination of the program development, revision, implementation and assessment processes. This includes serving as a member of the COHS Administrative Council, COHS Curriculum Committee, catalog revision editor for the college, and also as a key contact for questions on curriculum from faculty, parents, and students. In addition, the Associate Dean will oversee the college's graduate programs including serving on the Graduate Council and coordinating fund allocations for graduate assistants. The Associate Dean will also be a member of the Extended Council of Deans at the University level.
Strategic Planning - 25
Coordinate short- and long-term plans formulated by the Dean and the College Strategic Planning Task Force, based on the mission and goals of the College and the University. These plans will focus on student recruitment and retention, increasing diversity, and other specific initiatives within the College. This may also include assisting with college-level assessment of programs, collaboration with the Dean to identify support, and expand revenue-generating opportunities for the COHS via the College Leadership Board and Development Director.
Administration - 35
Provide support to the College of Health Sciences and the Dean regarding necessary administrative operations, emergency/critical incidents, strategic and fiscal planning and oversight. This includes monitoring of budgets, payroll, enrollment of both undergraduate and graduate programs, updates to the COHS Faculty Mentoring Handbook, search processes for faculty and staff positions in the College, reviewing of petitions, grade appeals, and grievances. The Associate Dean will work with the Dean on personnel issues, budgeting, review and approval of grant proposals, and lead the annual awards process (undergraduate and graduate) as well as the Dean's Excellence Awards. In addition, they will also represent the College on the Convocation Planning Committee. Other duties may be assigned by the Dean.
Teaching/Instructing - 10
Serve in a limited instructional capacity, as a faculty member in the appropriate degree discipline within the College. May also serve on graduate committees in their respective areas of expertise.

Educational Requirements
Candidates must have a PhD in an area relevant to an academic program or degree within the College.
Other Required Qualifications
Demonstrated evidence of significant involvement in curricular development, implementation, and assessment. Specific experience with nursing programs and accreditation of nursing programs at the BSN to DNP levels.
Demonstrated experience in supervising and directing a nationally accredited program(s) i.e. evidence of writing program approval or accreditation self-studies, annual reports, program reviews, coordinating site visits, writing rejoinders, etc.
Demonstrated experience in SACS accreditation processes, and in unit, college, and university level strategic planning.
Significant level of administrative and programmatic experience in working with external partners establishing and implementing clinical and or field-based experiences.
Evidence of strong communication skills (verbal and written).
Teamwork with administrative support staff.
Required Experience
Experience as a university faculty member with credentials commensurate with senior faculty status (professor) and progressive experience in academic administration (department chair or higher level within an accredited university) are required.

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Nursing degree and/ or license
Preferred Experience
Five or more years experience serving as a academic department chair, school director, or division head in a field/discipline offered by College of Health Sciences. Experience at an accredited, public college or university is preferred.
Experience teaching at a liberal arts institution and effective organizational skills. Experience with nursing program oversight and accreditation are also highly desirable.
