Job Summary
Under general direction by the Technical Director and/or the Chief Radiation Therapists (Chief RTT), the Associate Chief Radiation Therapist (Associate Chief RTT) will act as the principal assistant to the Chief RTTs. The Associate Chief RTT, under the direction of the Chief RTT, supervises and directs the daily activities and coverage for Staff and Senior Radiation Therapists. Perform all job functions that a Senior RTT has including, but not limited to performing simulations and radiation therapy treatments.
The Associate Chief RTT will be the first level of contact for RTTs to help troubleshoot and resolve clinical issues. As part of a multidisciplinary team, the Associate Chief RTT will help ensure that the operational needs of the department are met to provide high quality patient care. The Associate Chief RTT may be required to help cover Chief RTTs’ duties and/or scheduling for short periods of time, as needed. The Associate Chief RTT may be required to work at other campuses as assigned following Union guidelines for scheduling. Compliance with established Medical Center Environmental Safety Policies, HIPAA Standards, Joint Commission guidelines, and House and Telephone Standards, AIDET and department QI projects is required. The Associate Chief RTT will perform other duties as assigned related to the Department’s clinical needs.

Please note: An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Required Qualifications
- Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Therapeutic Radiology.
- Licensure by the State of California in Therapeutic Radiology.
- BLS certified.
- Senior Radiation Therapist; Five years of experience in Radiation Therapy Technology.
- Demonstrates thorough knowledge and ability to train others with department’s general LINACs, CT Simulation, Record Verify systems and EMR.
- Ability to act independently, ability to exercise appropriate independent judgment regarding set-up or treatment decisions.
- Excellent verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with patients and all department staff members. This includes, but not limited to Attendings, Residents, Physicists, Administrative Assistants and RNs.
- Positive attitude toward teamwork and patient safety. Collaborates with Chief RTTs to carry out high level objectives and QA projects that extends and improves the Radiation Oncology department and patient safety.
- Demonstrated or verified Technical Ability
- Needs to be able to coordinate and respond to ER situations appropriately. Includes, but not limited to machine breakdowns, ER add-ons, and Facility ERs.
- Ability to cover Chief Therapist duties on short term basis.
License/Certification
- Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Therapeutic Radiology
- Licensure by the state of California in Therapeutic Radiology
- BLS certified
