Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Associate Athletic Director for Development at the University of Maryland Athletics will play a strategicrole in supporting the fundraising efforts of Maryland Athletics and the Terrapin Club. This role will focus on enhancing strategic decision-making and operational efficiencies in the fundraising department and other revenue-related areas in Maryland Athletics. This position will lead in representing Maryland Athletics to University Relations and external stakeholders and partners. Oversee a portfolio of 75 or more potential contributors, alumni, and non-alumni acquaintances, supportingindividual donors contributing $50,000 or more. Develop a sustainable pool of potential donors, resulting in yearly donations exceeding $500,000. Lead a team to meet annual targets of securing contribution commitments exceeding $20 million from over 7,500 uniquedonors.
The Associate Athletic Director of Development will be under the supervision of the Senior Associate Athletic Director/Chief Development Officer. This role involves overseeing the Athletics Development team to meet unit and department objectives andactively managing a group of contributors to cultivate philanthropic commitments.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience:
Seven or more years of related experience in Higher Ed, Development, and/or Sales. Supervisory experience required.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • This role is an integral member of the development team, and the position requires an ability to communicate effectively both in written and oral form. 
  • Ability to problem-solve in a timely fashion. 
  • Sensitivity to the needs of a wide range of internal and external constituencies is required. 
  • The ability to take direction. 
  • The ability be flexible, work independently, take initiative, manage multiple projects, prioritize a high-volume of work in a fast-paced environment, and meet deadlines under pressure is required. 
  • Familiarity with office MS Office suite is required. 
  • In addition, the ability to manage confidential information with appropriate discretion and tact is essential.

Physical Demands
While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee operates a computer and other office devices such telephones, copy machines, fax machines, etc; Constantly moves about the facility and event site before, during and after events to service clients; constantly communicates via telephone, email and in-person with others to exchange accurate information. Standing, walking, kneeling/crouching, balancing and the incumbent must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The scope of the position may require some evening and weekend work (Non-standard work hours).
