JOB SUMMARY

Assist the head coach in maintaining a highly competitive Division I women's basketball program to include coordination of the recruitment process of prospective student-athletes, practice and game coaching, fundraising, guidance of assistant coaches and administrative personnel in the office, and to act as a liaison with campus units such as the Compliance Office, Sports Performance and Student-Athlete Academic Support units.   

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred. Candidate must have a minimum of five years of coaching experience and a thorough knowledge of recruiting practices and NCAA regulations. Strong verbal and written communication skills and prior experience in a supervisory role are recommended. Must be able to work nights and weekends. Travel is required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

Practice, Game Plan Preparations & Strategies

Prepare practice and game plans as needed for pre-season, in season, post season and summer trainings.  Develop and teach drills and techniques that advance player development.  Analyze, create, and deliver scouting reports to direct and guide strategies for upcoming opponents. Provide in game assessments in real time to implement necessary strategic adjustments.  Collaborate with staff, attend practices, and assist head coach in drill and scrimmage situations to best prepare the student-athletes for successful competition.

Professionalism, Student Experience & Development

Display professionalism, exercise good judgment, and support the department and basketball program’s core values, goals, and objectives. Act as a liaison between the student-athletes and academic support staff to ensure academic compliance and support academic achievement.  Encourage student-athletes to get involved in leadership and volunteer opportunities to enhance overall development.

Recruitment Student-Athletes

Attend high school and club competitions throughout the country to recruit student-athletes who will best represent Northeastern University both on and off the court.  Assess talent, academic profile and character to determine quality and potential of prospects. 

Marketing & Fundraising Support

Collaborate with department marketing team to advance promotion of program and games.  Assist the Director of Athletic Development and Assistant AD of Annual Giving to foster relationships and encourage development activity.

Personnel Oversight

Direct and guide administrative, graduate manager and student staff in the management of the office, practice, travel and other daily activities and operation of the program.
