Pay Range
The compensation for this appointment will range from $30,000 annually and reflects what California Baptist University reasonably expects to pay for this staff appointment. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications and experience of the applicant, as well as market conditions.

Position Summary Information


Summary
Under general supervision, assists in coaching duties for the sport assigned at California Baptist University. Assists with aspects of the program that may include recruitment, training and/or strength training for athletic competition by performing the following duties. This is a part-time, 11-month, part-time contract position. The Athletics department will determine the 11-month contract dates.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Other duties may be assigned.
  • Understand and agree to abide by the mission of CBU and the CBU Athletics Department.
  • Assists head coach in organizing, preparing, and conducting individual and team practices, training, and competition using sound principles and judgment consistent with the philosophy of CBU Athletics.
  • Assists with the design of workout programs and training routines to improve athletic performance.
  • Assists as directed with implementing and supervising athletic training, strength, and conditioning workouts; provides technical support and training to athletes, as appropriate to the sport.
  • Participates in various fundraising, marketing, and promotion activities.
  • May perform administrative duties including ordering and maintaining equipment, monitoring budgets, and initiating correspondence.
  • Assist in coaching all sport practices throughout the season, taking attendance at all practices.
  • Assist in planning the training of the team for season.
  • Keep records and statistics during games and as directed by the head coach.
  • Motivate team for maximum performance by utilizing motivational philosophies that meet the needs of the students and that are consistent with the CBU Athletic Program philosophy.
  • Display good sportsmanship in relationship with students, staff, officials, and opponents as consistent with NCAA policies regarding the principle of sportsmanship and ethical conduct.
  • Maintain up-to-date information of sport regulations, rule changes, and NCAA policies.
  • Effectively manage time in a demanding work environment.
  • Assist in recruiting and following up with qualified student athletes by phone, e-mail, or through on-campus visits. Within the framework of CBU and NCAA policies, recruit prospective student-athletes who are of the level necessary to be successful academically and athletically.
  • Assist with film exchange and video analysis.
  • Adhere to all institutional, conference and NCAA by-laws and regulations.
  • Ensure the physical, emotional, and social welfare of student-athletes.
  • Establish and ensure a safe environment for student-athletes.
  • Support the head coach in monitoring and reinforcing all NCAA and conference bylaws and procedures.
  • Assists the head coach in effectively arranging home and away contests according to conference and NCAA requirements and submit travel paperwork and NCAA pass lists on time.
  • Other related duties, as assigned by the head coach.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities
    This position has no supervisory duties.

    • Ability to travel, including domestic/international air travel, and work nights/weekends and holidays.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; and sit. Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers and speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate in person or over the phone. Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.     WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of thosean employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the workenvironment is usually moderate. Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extremetemperatures, dirt, dust, and/or loud noises. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards orphysical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
    Education and/or Experience
    Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. NCAA experience preferred.
