Assistant Vice Provost, Academics, FT - Remote

The Assistant Vice Provost, Academics is responsible for direct oversight of faculty and Teaching Assistants as assigned, in addition to oversight of faculty training, development, support, and communications. Additionally, the Assistant Vice Provost identifies opportunities to drive student success, and, with key stakeholders, identifies, develops, and implements step-change improvement and new innovations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure academic integrity and compliance in accordance with University policies and procedures,  accreditation standards, state, and federal rules and regulations
  • Identify and implement practices that help students achieve academic outcomes and success
  • Work with key stakeholders to review, assess, and develop related action plans that drive student success
  • Lead and manage strategic initiatives
  • Develop, coach and train assigned faculty in best teaching practices and promote faculty professional development. 
  • Regularly conduct and/or oversee audits of course shells and instructional practices. Work with internal stakeholders, including Legal, to make recommended changes
  • With Innovation team and Employability team, identify, develop, and implement strategies and technologies that drive student academic and professional outcomes 
  • Monitor trends in course enrollment to ensure budget and personnel planning, strong persistence, and strong outcomes for new and current students.
  • Facilitate hiring and retention of the highest caliber and diverse faculty through general recruitment, development, and mentoring
  • Provide leadership, training, and guidance in developing and implementing procedures related to academic personnel
  • Oversee faculty development programs and initiatives
  • Improve communication to and with faculty to enhance the overall climate and faculty engagement
  • Work to enhance technology applications and tools to allow for increased faculty productivity and satisfaction
  • Oversee academic personnel including appointment, merit increase, promotion and performance reviews (within Company guidelines and processes), to include coaching about issues and/or opportunities for growth and development
  • Identify new development needs and work with staff to create appropriate programs
  • Actively engage with campus and regional leadership on faculty-related matters as assigned
  • Teach a course utilizing best practices from high volume courses at least one quarter per year
  • Other duties as assigned

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 5-9 years of progressively senior experience in faculty and/or curriculum management is required.
  • Three years of teaching experience in a higher education setting is required.
  • Experience working in a complex, dynamic organization is preferred.
  • Success in leading and managing projects and teams in a fast-paced, preferably in online education, adult-focused education, or other university setting required.
  • Experience analyzing quantitative and qualitative data preferred.

Education:

  • Master’s degree is required. A terminal degree from a regionally accredited institution is preferred.

  • Must be able to travel 10% of time.
  • Must be able to lift 25lbs.
  • Typical office setting.
  • Mobility within the office including movement from floor to floor.
  • Travel via plane, car, and metro may be required to perform this job.
  • Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week when business needs warrant
  • Access information using a computer.
