JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a full-time Instructor or Assistant Teaching Professor position (non-tenure track) to begin in August 2024. We are a nationally ranked program that, for more than 80 years, has been preparing highly qualified professionals for clinical, academic, and research careers addressing the prevention and rehabilitation of speech, language, and hearing problems (https://hhd.psu.edu/csd ). Our non-tenure track faculty are essential members of the faculty of our department and contribute to our mission by demonstrating excellence in areas of clinical practice, education and classroom teaching.
This is a term, 42-week appointment for one year from the date of hire with the possibility of annual renewal. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with background and experience. An attractive benefits package is available.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the position include undergraduate teaching, clinical education/supervision, and service to the program, university, and the profession. Qualifications
This position requires:
A Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in speech-language pathology
American Speech-Language-Hearing Association certification in speech-language pathology (CCC-SLP)
Eligibility for Pennsylvania state licensure in speech-language pathology
A minimum of three years of full-time experience in clinical practice
Two hours of professional development in supervision post-certification
The ability to work effectively with diverse students, faculty, staff, and recipients of clinical services
A background check is required for employment in this position.
Experience and expertise in one or more of the following clinical areas is preferred:
Evaluation and treatment of adults and children who stutter,
Gender-affirming voice training for adolescents and adults,
Voice expansion training for gender fluid clients and nonbinary clients
Individuals with an overall strong clinical background or experience in clinical instruction with an interest and openness to developing their clinical skills in these areas are encouraged to apply.
