JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Risk Management in the Smeal College of Business at The Pennsylvania State University (University Park) invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor in Real Estate. The duties of this rank will involve engaging in effective teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level. Experience with or interest in online teaching is preferred. This is a term appointment, funded for one year from date of hire, with a possibility of renewal.

Education and Experience

The Assistant Teaching Professor should possess a Ph.D. degree in real estate, economics, finance, or a closely related field by the appointment start date. Alternatively, the Assistant Teaching Professor without a terminal degree should possess at least a master's degree and must have demonstrated ability as a teacher and evidence of professional growth, scholarship, and/or mastery of subject matter. Candidates with an established research agenda or industry experience are preferred.

Academic Environment

The Department of Risk Management is home to faculty in Actuarial Science, Business Economics, Business Law, Enterprise Risk Management, International Business, and Real Estate. It houses the Borrelli Institute for Real Estate Studies (BIRES), a privately sponsored research institution that fosters discussion and research between academicians and business professionals in the area of real estate as well as providing a focal point for real estate education. The department offers an undergraduate major in Real Estate as well as majors in Actuarial Science and Enterprise Risk Management. It also offers a Certificate in Real Estate Analysis and Development at the undergraduate level and a Master of Science in Real Estate Analysis and Development that has a STEM certification. Additionally, we have a strong PhD program in Real Estate.
