JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Anthropology at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Teaching Professor position, to start August 2024.

This is a non-tenure-track, 36-week, full-time term appointment (two academic semesters), with the possibility of reappointment. We seek candidates who are able to teach an introductory field anthropology course, as well as introductory and survey courses mainly in archaeology, but also potentially in other subdisciplinary areas.

Responsibilities will include teaching six courses, three per semester. This position will include resident and online instruction and normal university service.

The successful candidate will also be expected to promote and advance the Department’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. We especially welcome applications from members of underrepresented communities.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Anthropology or a related field in hand at the time of appointment, teaching experience, and evidence of high quality in teaching.
