University of California Irvine
Assistant Researcher - Kong Lab

The Kong laboratory in the Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry Behavior is seeking a professional researcher to plan, coordinate, and oversee several projects related to the study of understanding the crosstalk between signaling pathways, metabolic regulation, and epigenetics in cancer, diabetes, obesity, and aging.
The researcher should be particularly interested in studying:
1) crosstalk between metabolism and epigenetics;
2) using diet/metabolites to sensitize current therapeutic response for cancer treatment;
3) mechanisms to regulate metabolic homeostasis.
This role will apply a combination of mammalian genetics, biochemistry, bioinformatics and metabolomics tools, using both in vitro and in vivo models to address those questions.
The Kong laboratory's ultimate goal is to develop novel therapies to restore normal metabolism and improve treatment for cancer and metabolic diseases.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should be self-motivated with a PhD or MD/PhD degree with strong academic training in either cell biology, immunology, cancer, biochemistry, epigenetics/genetics, signaling or metabolic related diseases. The candidate should have the major responsibility and leadership for the research programs and must demonstrate continuous and effective engagement in independent and creative research activity of high quality and significance.
