Required Education and Experience:

  • Appropriate PhD

  • Relevant professional experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Experience:

  • Demonstrated ability through publications on metabolic diseases including diabetes or obesity or pregnancy complications.

  • Epigenetic knowledge is also preferred.

  • Expertise in mouse studies (preferably KO mice), colony management

  • Lead multiple projects, writing, and supervised students and junior researcher

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Good computer literacy, statistical analysis. Bioinformatics analysis is a plus.

  • Experience working with varied individuals and communities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Research - Lead In vitro and in vivo KO mouse studies on metabolic diseases and epigenetic biomarker project. Communicate with PI, other collaborators within as well as outside TAMU to ensure alignment of expectations within project objectives as well lead, influence, and enlist support to other lab members. Conduct literature searches and reviews and continue to update knowledge and develop skills. Maintain accurate and complete records of all findings. Generate and display the results and interpret their implications. Lead projects with confidence and proper organization. Excellent communication and organization skill in a well-funded lab with several postdocs and students. Train graduate students, junior postdocs, and work with PI in grant submission.

  • Lab Management - Lead funded research projects in depth and work with PI in getting preliminary data for grant submission. Propose and establish new techniques. Lead projects with confidence and proper organization. Train graduate students, junior postdocs, and work with PI in grant submission. Responsible for lab management, up to-date trainings for all of the lab members, taking care of instruments, and coordinate and organize samples, etc. Actively participate as a member of a research team and attend and contribute to relevant meetings. Preparation of laboratory for experiments including preparation of solutions and cleaning work areas; this may require light to moderate lifting. Ordering of supplies, take care of lab equipment and lead lab management, etc.
