JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

A non-tenure-line Professor of Practice or Assistant Research Professor position is available in the biotechnology laboratory of Professor Tonya Peeples at The Pennsylvania State University. We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced researcher in the field of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, chemical engineering, chemistry, biomolecular engineering, or a related discipline.

The successful candidate will engage in research activities and be responsible for laboratory management, including training and research mentoring of students. In addition, the successful candidate will mentor student organizations and provide support to Engineering Summer Bridge and similar student enrichment programs.

The Assistant Research Professor should possess at least a master's degree or its equivalent in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, chemical engineering, chemistry, biomedical engineering, or a closely related field by the start date. In addition, they must have demonstrated ability as a researcher and must have shown evidence of professional growth and scholarship in their discipline. Prior industry experience is preferred. The title of Professor of Practice should be reserved for persons who have accumulated a decade or more of high level and leadership experience in the private or public sectors outside the academy that would provide a unique background and wealth of knowledge that is of particular value as it is shared with the University's students and other faculty.

This is a term appointment, funded for three years from date of hire, with a possibility of renewal.
