The Office of the University Registrar at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, (UTK) invites applications and nominations for our Assistant Registrar for Academic Records & Registration position. The Position:

This is an on-campus position with some hybrid/remote work schedule flexibility.

Reporting to the Associate Registrar for Academic Records and Registration, this position provides effective management, support, and strategic leadership in the daily operations related to academic record maintenance and registration activity, including customer service for the Office of the University Registrar. The position assists and supports the Associate Registrar in the development and execution of the various components involved in academic records and registration, including but not limited to: transcript processing, student information system (SIS) registration set-up and management, National Student Clearinghouse reporting, grade processing, student academic program changes, enrollment verifications, student demographic information changes, proficiency credit, special population registration, etc. The Assistant Registrar serves as the direct supervisor for multiple staff dedicated to this area, including a Coordinator and several Specialists. This team provides the primary customer service functions for the entire Office of the University Registrar, and this position calls for a customer-service orientation and skill in staff development.

 



Qualifications

 

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree-

• Three (3) years of progressive responsibility in a professional setting

• Extensive familiarity with Microsoft Office suite

• Supervisory experience

 

Preferred Education and Experience:

Master's Degree-

• Experience in a college or university student services office setting

• Direct experience with student information systems

• Superior customer service and time management skills

• Ability to interpret complex policies and regulations

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to prioritize projects and work with high degree of accuracy

• Ability to maintain a high level of discretion

• Desire to work collaboratively with diverse constituencies

• Understanding of integrated student information systems

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of academic records and registration best practices

• Knowledge of and ability to interpret UTK academic policies and procedures

• Ability to lead change and apply process improvements necessary to adapt in a rapidly changing environment

• Comfortable with organizing and presenting information to diverse audiences

The Enrollment Management (EM) division comprises more than 190 full-time staff who serve our students through the following departments and functions: Undergraduate Admissions, International Recruitment, Transfer Center, One Stop Student Services, Financial Aid and Scholarships, University Registrar, EM Communications, and Research & Analytics.
