General Description / Primary Purpose
The Construction Management (CM) Department within the College of Computing, Engineering, and Construction is seeking applicants for a full-time assistant professor position (9-month appointment) to start in August 2024. The department is looking for applicants who will strengthen and complement the existing Construction Management faculty in regards to teaching and research.
Established in 1972, the University of North Florida has grown significantly in size and prominence, particularly in recent years. The construction management program has seen double-digit percentage enrollment growth each of the last several years.
Being strategically located in a major metropolitan area in a growing state, the Department of Construction Management receives overwhelming support from Florida’s strong construction industry. ACCE accredits the construction management undergraduate program and a Masters degree program recently began being offered. Our students recently enjoyed national success in the ABC and NAHB student competitions and have lately had a 100% job placement rate upon graduation with very competitive salaries.

Essential Duties


Job Function
1. Teach courses within the Construction Management program; in particular, willingness to teach classes in Scheduling, MEP Systems, Construction Management, Estimating, Documents & Contracts, Safety, Infrastructure Resilience, and Coastal & Marine Construction.
2. Develop and teach courses in the Masters Degree Program.
3. Pursue a scholarly research agenda including publications, and develop an externally funded research program.
4. Work with the department on developing the required documents for accreditation.
5. Work with and mentor students, student organizations and clubs, and student competition teams.
6. Collaborate with related disciplines, industry partners, and the First Coast community.
7. Serve committees at the various levels of the University.

1. Ph.D. in construction management or a related field. (ABD candidates will be considered if they provide evidence of anticipated completion of degree by the start date).
2. Record of accomplishment performing scholarly or professional activities in infrastructure resilience, and coastal & marine construction.
3. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
4. Minimum two years of full-time construction industry experience.
Departmental Requirements
Preference will be given to those who meet the Required Qualifications and also possess the following:
1. Evidence of scholarly activity including peer-reviewed publications and externally funded research contracts & grants.
2. Relevant teaching experience at the university level in the United States.
3. Professional certifications or licenses related to the construction industry.
4. Demonstrate expertise in Infrastructure Resilience, and Coastal Engineering & Construction.
