Job Summary:

The Department of Health and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Colorado Denver invites applications for a full-time, 9-month tenure track Assistant Professor position, to begin in Fall 2024. 

We invite applications from candidates who engage in research in the area of Environmental Health with particular emphasis on the intersection of climate-health, social vulnerability, ecosyndemics, disaster risk reduction, and climate justice in national and international contexts. Evidence of ability to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels required with particular emphasis on environmental health, global demography and health, climate justice and social determinants of health and disease.  Dedication to and tangible accomplishments in the area of diversity, equity and inclusion is essential.  We invite applications from individuals who fit with the Department's interdisciplinary focus on the application of social, behavioral, and natural science theory and methods to social and biological aspects of population health in national and global contexts. The successful candidate will join a department active in research, grant-writing, and teaching in a program with a graduate (Ph.D.) degree and undergraduate major in public health (B.A./B.S.). The position is a 9-month appointment on the Denver Campus with a 4-course per academic year teaching expectation in the department's Ph.D. and undergraduate programs. The normal workload for this position is 40% teaching, 40% research, and 20% leadership and service.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

·       PhD in Geography, Environmental Sciences, or closely related field

·       3 Years teaching at undergraduate and graduate level

·       Active research agenda

·       Evidence of and experience promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)

Preferred Qualifications:

·       Experience teaching courses related to Public Health

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·       Ability to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels with particular emphasis on environmental health, global demography and health, climate justice and social determinants of health and disease.

·       Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.

·       Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.

·       Outstanding customer service skills.

·       Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $81,500 - $85,000.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
